The City Charter (Section 817) grants the Historic Landmarks Commission the power and duty to review all plans for exterior alteration, demolition, relocation, moving or construction of or on: any structures or real property within El Pueblo Viejo Landmark District; any structures or real property within any designated Landmark District; any additional property authorized by action of the City Council; and, a designated Landmark.
The “Historic Landmarks Commission (HLC) Guidelines & Meeting Procedures” have been developed to:
1. Ensure high design standards are maintained and applied in all areas under the jurisdiction of the HLC in regards to the development and construction process.
2. Clarify the goals and policies of the HLC for the understanding of the public and those who enter into the application process.
Infill Design Guidelines were added to these guidelines in April 2017.
