Santa Barbara residents have access to four different colored bins. Click on each bin below to learn in further detail about what is acceptable and unacceptable.

What Goes Where?
Recycling Blue Bin	We really do recycle all these things: All Metal All Hard Plastics & Bottles (no plastics that had food in them, styrofoam, bags, and film plastics) For specifics, please review the new Recycling Guidelines. All Paper & Cardboard (not wet or soiled e.g. used paper towels, greasy pizza boxes) All Glass Containers
Greenwaste Green Bin	Leaves Branches Cut flowers Grass No pampas grass or palm fronds
Foodscraps Compost: Yellow Bin	For multi-unit buildings and businesses only. Call 805-564-5631 to learn more or click here. Fruits and vegetables Meat, bones, fat Paper towels, tissues Soiled cardboard
Landfill Trash: Brown Bin	Everything that can’t go in one of the other bins. Brown bin trash is not sorted and goes straight to the landfill.
