15th Annual Community Clean-Up Date Announced

Saturday October 13th, 2018

9am - 12pm

On October 13th, hundreds of volunteers will join together for Looking Good Santa Barbara’s 15th Annual Community Clean-Up Day to transform Santa Barbara neighborhoods on the east and west sides of the city. Volunteers will be assigned to a variety of projects including litter pick-up, graffiti removal, and creek clean-up. 

Students are able to earn community service hours. Individuals, families, and groups wishing to participate can simply sign-up on the day of the event. 

All clean-up supplies will be provided.

Locations:

  • Parque de los Ninos (500 Block of Wentworth Street)
  • Corner of Quarantina & Canon Perdido Streets (800 Block N. Quarantina Street)

Schedule Your Own Clean Up

Apart from our annual clean-up day, if you have a group you are invited to schedule a community clean-up of your own. Call Looking Good Santa Barbara at 564-5669. 

Overview of Clean-Ups


 

During the 2017 annual Community Clean-Up Day we cleaned up 7,240 pounds of trash from our community! 

Some of the projects completed were:

  • Litter & Graffiti Clean-up - Citywide
  • Litter Clean-Up - Old Mission Creek
  • Graffiti Paint-Out - Micheltorena & San Andres Intersection
  • General Maintenance - Yanonali Community Garden
  • 30 Street Trees Mulched & Maintained
  • Operated Two Bulky Item Collection Locations
  • Picked Up Illegally Dumped Items from City Streets

 

What We Accomplished Together in 2016

400 Volunteers:

  • 4,200 Pounds of Trash Collected
  • 3,500 Pounds of Illegally Dumped Items Collected
  • 100's of Graffiti Tags Removed

 

What We Accomplished Together in 2015

280 Volunteers:

  • 25 City Blocks Covered
  • 4,000 Pounds of Trash Collected
  • 60 Trees Maintained
  • 1,000 Door Hangers Distributed
  • 100’s of Graffiti Tags Removed
  • 30 Storm Drain Markers Installed
  • 1,600 Feet of Old Mission Creek Cleaned Up and 120 Pounds of Trash Collected
