The City of Santa Barbara is currently soliciting proposals from eligible applicants for the fiscal year 2013-2014 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Human Services programs. The City will not receive confirmation of the actual FY 2013 CDBG Entitlement amount from HUD until at the earliest, March 2013. For this application process, the City is anticipating a decrease from FY 2012-2013 (approximately $656,351), plus an additional $73,286 in reprogrammed funds. Using these estimates, the approximate amount of Public Service CDBG funds equal $98,453 which is added to City Human Service funds in the amount of $628,256. Again, using this estimate, the amount of Capital CDBG funds available will be approximately $449,914.
The City of Santa Barbara makes an annual application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Community Development Block Grant funds. The funds are made available to the City to undertake specific eligible projects and programs that develop a viable urban community by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment. In particular, these funds are to be used for programs that principally benefit low to moderate-income persons.
