Draft Access & Parking Design Standards Update to be Considered by Planning Commission
On May 10, 2018, the Planning Commission will hold a public meeting to consider a draft update to the City of Santa Barbara Access & Design Standards and forward comments and recommendations to City Council.
This would be the first update of the standards since 1982. The update would provide consistency with the New Zoning Ordinance, which became effective in October 2017. Proposed changes include new standards for automobile and bicycle parking and pedestrian access. The update is intended to provide a more user-friendly document that will provide necessary guidance to allow designers to navigate the plan review process more quickly and easily.
The draft update and staff report are posted on the Planning Commission website and are accessible here. The Planning Commission hearing agenda is available here.
The public will be invited to comment on the draft at the Planning Commission hearing. Written comments are also welcome and may be emailed to the Planning Commission Secretary at PCSecretary@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.
For questions regarding the pending design standards, please contact Andrew Perez, Assistant Transportation Planner at (805)564-5572 or ACPerez@SantaBarbaraCA.gov, or Dan Gullett, Supervising Transportation Planner at (805)897-2542 or DGullett@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.
