On May 8, 2018 City Council will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of amendments to the Santa Barbara Municipal Code to establish development regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).  This hearing follows City Council’s April 17, 2018 hearing during which Council members provided direction to staff on a few remaining issue areas that have generated the most discussion throughout development of the draft ordinance:  owner-occupancy requirements as reflected in a recorded covenant, High Fire Hazard area considerations, and open yard requirements.  These aspects of the ordinance were revised to reflect the City Council’s direction.
