In light of community impacts and closure of Highway 101 and other roads due to the mudflows in Montecito, the Planning Commission hearing scheduled for January 11, 2018 to review proposed amendments to the Santa Barbara Municipal Code to establish development regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) has been postponed until Thursday, January 25, 2018.  The staff report, including the revised draft ADU Ordinance and other attachments, is still available for review on the ADU website at and on the Planning Commission website at

Written public comment on the draft ADU Ordinance will continue to be accepted. Mail correspondence to PC Secretary, P.O. Box 1990, Santa Barbara, CA 93102-1990 or email to Please submit 12 copies of any material over 2 pages at the Planning & Zoning counter, 630 Garden Street. Please note that the Planning Commission may not have time to consider written comments received after 4:30 p.m. on the Monday before the meeting.
