Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance at City Council

On October 27, 2020, City Council will hold a hearing on the proposed Title 30 (Inland) Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance and Title 28 (Coastal) ADU Ordinance. Adoption of an ordinance requires two City Council hearings: a first reading (introduction) and a second reading (adoption). The October 27, 2020 hearing is the first reading. The second adoption reading is anticipated to occur on November 10, 2020 and the Title 30 ADU ordinance will take effect 30 days after adoption. The Title 28 ADU ordinance requires a Local Coastal Plan amendment and certification by the California Coastal Commission before it is effective.
