The Santa Barbara Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of three sworn law enforcement officers. Chief Bernard Melekian promoted Brian Miller from Sergeant to Lieutenant, and Detective Nathan Beltran, and Detective Andre Miller both to Sergeant.
Today the Santa Barbara Citizens Council on Crime selected three Santa Barbara Police Officers for the H. Thomas Guerry Award for valor: Officer Adrian Gutierrez, Officer Christina Ortega, and Officer Davina Valerio. Chief Bernard Melekian presented these Officers with the award. These three Officers responded to a serious structure fire in the 700 block of Spring Street on the morning on November 17, 2021. All three Officers and one community member rescued a trapped man in a fully blown residential structure fire. Without the Officers’ quick thinking and immediate response, it is believed the man trapped would have perished in the blaze.
**SUSPECT ARRESTED ON 4/21/2022**
On April 18, 2022, around 7:30 pm, the Santa Barbara Police Combined Communication Center received a report from a 72-year-old female victim stating she had just been attacked and tasered by an unknown female suspect in the 2900 block of State Street.
