The City of Santa Barbara is committed to delivering the best possible web experience to all of our citizens and website visitors. This new website utilizes functionality available in all "modern" web browsers. Like Google and other leading Internet services providers, we have had to leave behind some older browser compatibility in order to move ahead.
The City website supports the current version of the following web browsers.
On November 15 of 2012, Google dropped support of the Internet Explorer 8 web browser. The City of Santa Barbara’s website will work in Internet Explorer 8; however it will not be an optimal experience. The City website does not support Internet Explorer 7 and older.
www.santabarbaraca.gov is the official domain of the City of Santa Barbara City Government.
There exists a National City web site naming convention and the City web site responds to that domain as well, www.ci.santa-barbara.ca.us.
If you are using a "modern" web browser on a desktop, tablet or phone, the screen width does not matter because the website will respond appropriately to the width of your browser window.
If you are using Internet Explorer 8, the minimum recommended screen resolution is 1,280 pixels by 960 pixels, however the site will still work with lower resolutions.
In general, any staff's email address can be figured out, if you know their first and last names. City email addresses consist of 1) first initial, 2) last name, and 3) @santabarbaraca.gov (with no spaces).
For example: Scott Nelson is email@example.com. Please note that the email address is not case sensitive.
If the person you are trying to locate is a Police Department employee, then use @sbpd.com rather than @santabarbaraca.gov. When two people have conflicting email addresses, then the middle initial is used between the first initial and last name for the newer employee.
The City of Santa Barbara is committed to the goal of helping you find the information you are seeking within three (3) clicks of the City Home Page. If you are not finding something, we want to help you. A new section of the City web site has been created to assist you in finding the information you are looking for. Go to Website Help.
If you cannot find what you are looking for, please contact the Information Systems Website Help system.
In our continuing efforts to improve communications with the public, MySB Quick Subscriptions are a new feature where website visitors can receive email notifications on subjects of interest. Users may simply create an account and sign up for email based subscriptions to relevant information. We plan to continue to add new subscriptions as they arise, and we encourage visitors to check back often for newly available subscriptions. MySB Quick Subscriptions has replaced e-Subscriptions. Just scroll to the bottom of the page to subscribe!
