General and Special Municipal Election

November 5, 2019

General Municipal Elections are held in November of odd-numbered years and are administered by the City Clerk's Office. For further information, please call (805) 564-5309, or visit the City Clerk's Office in City Hall at 735 Anacapa Street. For past years information, please refer to the Past Elections link.

Vote-by-Mail Election - Tuesday, November 5, 2019
2019 - Voters who live in Districts 1 and 2 will be receiving election ballots for the City’s General Municipal Election. All voters who live in the designated districts will be mailed a ballot with prepaid postage on the return envelope.
Three drop-off centers will be located throughout the City, allowing voters the option to vote in person. Drop-off center locations are listed below.
Important Election Dates
July 15, 2019
Nomination Period begins (where potential candidates can pull papers to run for City Council).
August 9, 2019
Nomination Period ends.
October 7, 2019
Ballots mailed to City registered voters
October 21, 2019 - Deadline to register to vote for the November 5 election.

November 5, 2019 - Election day!
Ballots must:

  • Have a postmark date of November 5, 2019; AND
  • Be received on or before November 8, 2019.

PUBLIC ACCESS PORTAL

The Public Access Portal contains financial information provided by candidates and committees. It can answer questions about who is contributing money, who is receiving money, and how it is being spent.

Use the Public Access Portal to research campaign contributions and expenditures, review campaign statements filed by candidates and committees, or examine a committee's filing history by election.

FILER ACCESS PORTAL

The Filer Access Portal is a web-based, data entry filing system that allows candidates and campaign committees to submit disclosure reports mandated by California's Political Reform Act to the Electronic Filing System free of charge.

Use the Filer Access Portal to create electronic campaign statements. Before you begin you must have received your Electronic Filing System filer identification number and password. To get a filer identification number and password for your committee, call the City of Santa Barbara, City Clerk's Office at (805) 564-5309.

City Clerk's Office Regular Business Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Closed every other Friday
(See below for special election hours)

Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Election Day
Tuesday, November 5: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All other Drop-Off Center Locations will be open on
Election Day, Tuesday, November 7:
7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Vote-by-mail ballots can be dropped off in the City Clerk 's Office during regular business hours prior to the Drop-Off Center dates.
