On June 16, 2026, the Santa Barbara City Council approved a resolution to call for the holding of a general municipal election to elect the filling of the following Council seats: District 4, District 5, District 6, and Mayor. The General Municipal Election will held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
July 13, 2026 – August 7, 2026 - Candidate Nomination Period
August 8, 2026 – August 17, 2026 - 10-Day Public Examination Period for Candidate Statements
September 24, 2026 - First Day Secretary of State/County Officials will mail the Voter Information Guide (Secretary of State online version available starting September 4, 2026)
October 5, 2026 - First Day Vote-By-Mail ballots will be mailed out by County Elections Official and ballot drop-off locations will open
October 19, 2026 - Last Day to Register to Vote for November 3, 2026, Election
October 20, 2026 – November 3, 2026 – Conditional Voter Registration Period
November 3, 2026 - ELECTION DAY!

The Public Access Portal contains financial information provided by the candidates and committees. It can answer questions about who is contributing money, who is receiving money, and how it is being spent.
Use the Public Access Portal to research campaign contributions and expenditures, review campaign statements filed by candidates and committees, or examine a committee's filing history by election.
The Filer Access Portal is a web-based, data entry filing system that allows candidates and campaign committees to submit disclosure reports mandated by California's Political Reform Act to the electronic-filing system free of charge.
Use the Filer Access Portal to create electronic campaign statements. Before you begin, you must have received your Electronic Filing System filer identification number and password. To get a filer identification number and password for the Filer Access Portal, contact the City Clerk's Office at Clerk@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.
Santa Barbara County Elections Office will be administering the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election. For information regarding ballots, voter registration, ballot drop-off locations, and voter service centers, please contact the Santa Barbara County Elections office at 1-(800) SBC-VOTE (1-800-722-8683) or visit the County Elections website.
