The Political Reform Act (Government Code Sections 81000-91015) requires most state and local government officials and employees to publicly disclose their personal assets and income. They must also disqualify themselves from participating in decisions which may affect their personal financial interests.
Officials and employees designated in the City's Conflict of Interest Code are required to file an Annual Statement of Economic Interests (SEI). They are also required to file an assuming office and initial statement within 30 days of assuming office and a leaving office statement within 30 days after leaving the office or position.
The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) is the state agency responsible for issuing the Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700, and for interpreting the law's provisions.
Statements of economic interests are public documents. The City Clerk is the filing official/officer, retains the statements, and makes the statements available for public inspection and reproduction. For further information, please call the City Clerk's Office at (805) 564-5309.
