Taking the Train

Santa Barbara is connected to Washington, Oregon, Northern and Southern California via Amtrak.

The train station is conveniently located off State Street, close to the Wharf.  It can be reached on foot or via a 50-cent shuttle ride from Lower State Street.  An additional station is located in Goleta, near the airport.

The Amtrak
Pacific Surfliner runs five times daily, coming into Santa Barbara from the south, with two trains continuing to San Luis Obispo.

The Amtrak
Coast Starlight runs daily from Seattle through Portland, Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, to Santa Barbara and on to Los Angeles. This route is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular of all train routes.

Some trains will allow you to store your bike and lock it up. Other trains may require your bike to be boxed.
