Rain and holidays are the two main reasons why street sweeping may be cancelled. Whenever sweeping is cancelled, parking enforcement in the street sweeping no-parking zones is also cancelled. Sweeping will resume on the next regularly scheduled day and time; there is no automatic schedule shift to the next day.
Street sweeping is usually cancelled when runoff fills the gutters. Steady rain, not just showers, is needed to warrant cancellation. Once the announcement of cancellation is made on the Street Sweeping Hotline, parking enforcement during the times posted in sweeping zones is cancelled for the rest of that day. Please do not assume that any rain results in automatic cancellation; check the Hotline before you park!
A message will be placed on the Street Sweeping hotline announcing the scheduled holiday sweeping cancelation and reminding callers that parking enforcement in sweeping zones will be cancelled on those days.
