Starting today and lasting approximately two weeks, the City of Santa Barbara Public Works Department will be installing utilities and grinding/overlaying the street surface of Las Positas Road between the US 101 Freeway and McCaw Avenue. This work is being completed under contract with Granite Construction Company as part of the City’s Annual Pavement Maintenance Program. Construction in the Las Positas Road area started last month with the reconstruction of several sidewalk corners to construct access ramps in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Upcoming work will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on weekdays. The work is being phased to maintain one open lane in each direction, but certain turning movements will be restricted. Detours will be provided and access maintained. The traveling public should anticipate delays and take alternative routes as appropriate especially during the grinding/overlay work scheduled for November 3 to November 6
When the overlay is complete, Las Positas Road will have a much smoother driving surface and this work is anticipated to extend the life of the road by 10-20 years. The project is funded by Measure A and Utility User Tax funds.
