Progress over the past year

Much has happened over this past year on the Police Station Project and great progress has been made since City Council selected the Cota Commuter Parking Lot as the preferred site alternative for environmental review.  As part of the preliminary environmental review, the Cota site was thoroughly studied, and 30% plans for the Police Station were created.

Next, the 30% plans will go before the City Architectural Board of Review for a concept hearing in November 2020.  This hearing will be noticed to the public and it will be the first opportunity for the public to see the proposed concept for the new Police Station.

The project was approved by City Council in early 2020 as a Community Benefit project and as a result it has the ability to extend beyond the 45’ height limit for the area.  Therefore, this project will also go before the Planning Commission in late 2020 or early 2021 to request approval to go above the 45’ height limit.

The technical studies conducted on the property will be made available to the public for review when the development project is formally submitted to the City through the Development Application Review Team, which is expected in early 2021.
