A club, business, religious, environmental, school, scout, or neighborhood group may adopt a specific park for a service project. Groups may also have specific talents and can work on related projects throughout several parks. City Parks also teams up with other organizations to complete large community volunteer events, such as the highly successful “Day of Caring” with United Way.
Sharing work not only strengthens ties to the community and assists City Parks; it also provides opportunities for team building for your organization. And, it provides training opportunities for clubs and schools and provides students an opportunity to complete community service requirements. The Parks Division has teamed up with Boy Scouts in volunteer projects to complete Eagle Scout requirements.
A volunteer group representative should contact the Parks Manager early in the planning process to determine what opportunities are available.
The Parks Division looks forward to discussing and working with your group on a meaningful and productive volunteer project. Please call (805) 564-5433 for more information on volunteering.
