Shoreline Park is one of Santa Barbara’s most popular parks with visitors enjoying views of the Santa Barbara Channel, islands, surfers, stand-up-paddling, marine life including the occasional whale, and the City’s 4th of July fireworks.
Shoreline Park is a 15-acre coastal bluff located on Shoreline Drive, extending from La Marina to west of San Rafael. Once used as farmland, major development began in the 1950’s including Shoreline Drive and adjacent subdivisions. Residents feared this bluff land would be developed for residential use, thus blocking off public views and access. A group of citizens urged the City to purchase the land for a park and in November 1963, City Council passed a resolution condemning the land for park and recreational purposes.
For everyone’s safety there are no bikes or skateboards allowed. Please be respectful of others and remember to pick up after your dog. For more information about reserving space at this park visit the Park Rentals webpage.
