Passive Open SpacesParks

Passive Open Spaces

An open space park consists of land protected and managed as a natural environment with passive recreation value and minimal development. Passive outdoor recreation includes activities such as bird watching, walking, hiking, dog walking, and picnicking. Passive equestrian uses include a drop in riding rink at Equestrian Circle, trail riding along Rattlesnake Canyon Trail and equestrian trails throughout Parma Park. Bicycle riding is allowed in most open space parks, with the exception of limited access in Parma Park. Open space parks often preserve the character and natural beauty of the area and range in size from a few acres to the 450-acre Rattlesnake Canyon Trail.
