Playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, and skatepark now closed

Parks remain open sunrise to one half hour after sunset

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, the Parks and Recreation Department has closed all playgrounds in City of Santa Barbara parks until further notice. Skater’s Point skatepark and all outdoor exercise equipment in City parks are also off limits until further notice.

At this time, parks remain open during their usual hours of sunrise to a half hour after sunset. Even with playgrounds closed, getting outside to enjoy our parks is a great way to get some exercise while following social distancing guidelines.

Please help keep yourself and others safe from the coronavirus by practicing social distancing while using parks or using public trails. Stay at least six feet away from others wherever possible, avoid touching surfaces, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often. On trails, announce your presence to those approaching and leave plenty of room when passing.

For more information on COVID-19, please visit the County of Santa Barbara's public health portal at City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation updates will continue to be posted online at
