EGGstravaganza Egg Hunts: Local Tradition Continues with Two Park Egg Hunts for Children on March 31, 2018 at 10:00AM
For 59 years, the Saturday morning before Easter has been a time for local children to look forward to. Each year, the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department presents a fun, active sprint and search for candy and prize-filled eggs in the park. This year, EGGstravaganza will take place in two park locations: Chase Palm Park and Bohnett Park. Attendance is free, and children age eight and younger are invited to bring their families and line up for the EGGstravaganza starting line on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00AM.
“These free egg hunts in our parks are an exciting yearly event for local children,” said Emily Fox, Senior Recreation Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department. “We’re happy to partner with three great local organizations to provide two EGGstravaganzas again this year.”
The Parks and Recreation Department is joined by the United Boys and Girls Club and the Police Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ Associations of Santa Barbara. The City of Santa Barbara Fire Department will bring a fire engine to Chase Palm Park, and will give tours to children. City of Santa Barbara police officers will be present as well, and will bring a surprise or two to entertain the children in attendance. Families are encouraged to be ready for a photo with the EGGstravaganza Bunny.
Children from toddler age through age eight should bring a basket or bag with them to the park, and be sure to arrive a little early, as the egg hunt starts at 10:00AM sharp.
