POSTPONED! Public Meeting on March 21: Thousand Steps

Community update on project at Mesa beach access stairway

This meeting is postponed due to poor weather. Please join the Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department for a brief presentation of proposed repairs to Thousand Steps.

About the Project:

This project will include adding more steps at the bottom of the stairway to avoid sudden drop-off at the beach, replacing damaged steps with new concrete steps, and installing handrails along the entire stairway.

About Thousand Steps:

Thousand Steps was built in the 1920s and serves as an important link to the beach and ocean. The stairway is in need of repairs to ensure this facility continues to serve the community. Repair plans are nearing completion and City staff will present the project elements and next steps for permitting and construction.
