The Neighborhood Health Fair and Family Fun Day is a free annual event that serves to increase access for comprehensive healthcare for low to moderate income children and families in the Santa Barbara area.
This year’s event will be held May 20, 2017 at the Westside Boys and Girls Club and within Bohnett Park from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The health screening component of the event features a variety of comprehensive health stations where participants can retrieve immediate information for dental, body mass index, social and emotional wellness, diabetes, health insurance, Hepatitis C and HIV, blood pressure, vision, hearing and cancer screenings.
The goal of the event is to connect participants with a medical provider in order to establish treatment and regular visits that will address any immediate health concerns so participants may live a healthy life.
The event also features fun activities for everybody to enjoy. Bici Centro will offer its amazing Bici Familia program that teaches families about bicycle safety. There will be a kids’ fun zone, Zumba and yoga, prize drawings for bicycles and computers, resources for seniors, children, teens, and adults, and help with MediCal enrollment. A free lunch will be provided by the Santa Barbara Unified School District’s Mobile Café.
Local elected officials will be on hand to provide support and make brief comments. The 2017 Neighborhood Health Fair and Family Fun Day is a partnership driven event organized by American Indians Health and Services, Santa Barbara County Education Office – Health Linkages and Promotores, Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, Santa Barbara Unified School District, Westside Boys and Girls Club and the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department.
