Because Santa Barbara County has moved into the Red Tier level of reopening, we’re happy to say we were able to reopen all 22 of our public playgrounds on October 3, 2020. Here’s what you need to know:
Because of fire danger, the U. S. Forest Service has ordered a temporary closure of Los Padres National Forest. Rattlesnake Trail, Tunnel Trail, Jesusita Trail, and Cold Springs Trail (all of which lead into the National Forest) are closed. This temporary order will expire on October 1, 2020, unless conditions worsen.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Santa Barbarans have sought ways to get some healthy exercise without endangering themselves or the community, and the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department has stepped in to help fill this need.
