Starting from the outside with new paint and the installation of solar panels patrons are welcomed with a fresh new look. Moving inside, the open floorplan and flexible space has created a bright, inviting community gathering place to learn and discover. Over a year in the making, the Library collaborated with Public Works to explore new possibilities for the facility and select new paint, flooring, and other design elements. Public Works Building Maintenance staff put in long hours over the holiday break. Having such skilled trades in-house saves the City dollars and allows for flexibility when working through projects like this. The Library also worked diligently to research other libraries and schools to design a layout that is more user-friendly and carefully select furniture that is more functional. New features include a larger children’s area, modern furniture and shelving that easily move around to create new programming spaces, and a mobile staff work station for assistance from anywhere in the Library. New computers and other technology will also be implemented soon. Library and Public Works staff are excited to welcome back the community to their neighborhood Eastside Library.
