The Santa Barbara Public Library is transitioning patron passwords from last name to a 4 digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This is to simplify the patron user experience both inside and outside of the library.
On Monday, September 16, 2019, all existing patron passwords will be changed to the last 4 digits of the patron’s registered phone number.
Frequently asked questions:

Please contact library staff, or visit sbplibrary.org, select the orange "My Account" link from the top navigation menu, and click “Forgot My Password.”

Can I change my PIN?
Yes. You may change your PIN in your account on sbplibrary.org, or in-person with library staff. To change your PIN in person, please bring your library card or ID. Your PIN must be numeric only.
How does this impact my usage of library downloads and databases?
For resources such as Mango or RBDigital where users create an account and password, your password has not changed.
