SANTA BARBARA PUBLIC LIBRARY TRANSITIONING SANTA YNEZ VALLEY BRANCHES

As of July 1, 2019, following the transition of the Buellton, Solvang, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez libraries to the management of the Goleta Valley Public Library, the Santa Barbara Public Library will consist of the Central, Eastside, Carpinteria, and Montecito Branch Libraries. This transition will lead to streamlined services and programs at the Santa Barbara Public Libraries.

All public libraries in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties belong to the Black Gold Cooperative Library System, which manages library materials deliveries, technology, and resource sharing in public libraries throughout the Central Coast region. Patrons may only be cardholders at one Black Gold member library. In accordance with this policy, Black Gold will institute a temporary block on all registered Buellton, Solvang, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez patrons effective May 15th to enable those patrons to update their accounts to a Santa Ynez Valley Library card in order to check out any materials or access electronic resources. Patrons may receive a Santa Ynez Valley Public Library card at the Goleta, Buellton, or Solvang libraries. For more information read the Frequently Asked Questions about the transition.

“With this transition, the Santa Barbara Public Library is excited to continue offering our award-winning services to our patrons at our branches,” said Library Director Jessica Cadiente. “We look forward to planning for the future of the Central, Eastside, Carpinteria, and Montecito Libraries.”
