MakeSB! Presents a Live Music Showcase Saturday, November 3rd Featuring Lawn Chairs (Oakland, CA), The Co Founder (Bellingham, WA), and Pookie

MakeSB continues to highlight new and original musical talent from all around the world; Saturday, November 3rd at 7 PM, the library is proud to host co-headliners Lawn Chairs (Oakland, CA) and The Co Founder (Bellingham, WA), with local support from Santa Barbara band Pookie.

Lawn Chairs combine classic punk riffs with periodic full-band jams and heart-on-sleeve lyricism to create a sound that is slightly familiar but feels fresh and is an absolute joy to listen to.  Continuing the proud tradition of Bay Area DIY culture with their own record label/art collective Slang Church, Lawn Chairs are touring in support of their recent split EP release.

The Co Founder take pop and rock influences, add that touch of hazy distortion that has become a sort of hallmark to a lot of Pacific-Northwest based independent music, and use that as a base on which their honest and insightful lyrics are allowed to shine. The Co Founder is touring in support of their debut album Gymnasium which was released this past August.

Pookie is a mostly-instrumental math rock group that jams, erupts, and crashes about in all different directions, but with a pacing and measure that grounds their tunes and gives them warmth and verve.

The ability to make and create will also be available for all attendees as there will be button making, metal stamping, and typewriters for all to use.

All MakeSB performers are paid for their participation via mini-grant funds provided by the Santa Barbara Public Library. For booking inquiries or to inquire about future shows, email makesb@santabarbaraca.gov. Information about Santa Barbara Public Library System locations, hours, events, and programs is available at SBPLibrary.org. All Library programs are free and open to the public.
