MakeSB - a Santa Barbara Public Library initiative committed to making and creating in all forms - continues on Friday, July 13 at 7PM with a musical showcase featuring Retirement Party (Chicago, IL), Moonily (Ventura, CA), and Soko the Whale Dog (Santa Barbara, CA) at the Santa Barbara Central Library (40 E. Anapamu).
Headlining the concert is Retirement Party, a band from Chicago that formed in 2017 and released their debut album Somewhat Literate earlier this year. At first glance, their sound is firmly pop-punk, but the earnest songwriting and pointed lyrics about the ups and downs of navigating early adulthood resonate universally.
Moonily, from Ventura, will make their debut visit to Santa Barbara. Their sound evokes emotional responses with a lush soundscape similar to Retirement Party. Local group Soko the Whale Dog’s beach-kissed rock grooves will set the tone for the evening.
The ability to make and create will also be available for all attendees as there will be button making, metal stamping, and typewriters for all to use.
All MakeSB performers are paid for their participation via mini-grant funds provided by the Santa Barbara Public Library. For booking inquiries or to inquire about future shows, email email@example.com. Information about Santa Barbara Public Library System locations, hours, events, and programs is available at SBPLibrary.org. All Library programs are free and open to the public.
