Meeting Room & Exhibit Space Reservations

Meeting rooms are available to local organizations located within the service area of the Santa Barbara Public Library. Room reservations are available at the Central, Carpinteria, and Eastside libraries.

Public space for art exhibits is available at the Central Library. Most exhibits are the work of members of non-profit art organizations located within the Santa Barbara Public Library service area. Exhibits are usually for one month and are booked months in advance. Non-profit art organizations may request to exhibit their members' artwork during a calendar month.

Local non-profit art organizations are invited to submit requests to exhibit, which must include the following details:

  • Description of the organization
  • Number of members
  • History of exhibitions by the organization
  • Type of art
  • Description of the selection process
  • Order of preference of months to exhibit

Solo shows are held in the small Faulkner Galleries – East and West. Individual artists are selected annually through jurying managed by the Santa Barbara Art Association on behalf of the library. Individual artists can submit applications for solo shows only after selection through the jurying process.

Faulkner Gallery Meeting Space

  • Capacity: 190
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Projection screen, chairs, tables, lectern
  • Initial 3-Hour period: $250
  • Each additional hour: $75
  • Co-sponsored program fee initial 3-Hour Period: $125 (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Co-sponsored program fee for each additional hour: $35 (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Optional refreshments: $75.00 per event.
  • Optional use of audio visual (A/V) equipment: $200.00 for initial 3-hour period, $50.00 each additional hour.

Faulkner Gallery Exhibit Space

  • For group exhibitions of artwork by members of one of the local non-profit art organizations
  • Room size: 30’ x 50’ (1,500 sq. ft.)
  • $625.00 per month.

Faulkner West Gallery or Faulkner East Gallery Meeting Spaces

  • Capacity: 5 (each gallery)
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Chairs, table
  • Initial 3-Hour period: $75
  • Each additional hour: $35
  • Co-sponsored program fee initial 3-Hour Period: $35 (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Co-sponsored program fee for each additional hour: $20  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Optional refreshments: $30.00 per event.

Faulkner West Gallery or Faulkner East Gallery Exhibit Spaces

  • For one-person or small group shows by artists whose work has been selected by a jury organized for library exhibitions by the local non-profit art community
  • Room Size: 11’ x 22’ (242 sq. ft.)
  • $190.00 per month.

Central Library Lower Plaza

  • Initial 3-Hour period: $350
  • Each additional hour: $100
  • Co-sponsored program fee initial 3-Hour Period: $275  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Co-sponsored program fee for each additional hour: $50  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)

Central Library Front Plaza Area

  • Initial 3-Hour period: $450
  • Each additional hour: $225
  • Co-sponsored program fee initial 3-Hour Period: $250  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Co-sponsored program fee for each additional hour: $100  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)

Central Library Tech Lab

  • Initial 3-Hour period: $150
  • Each additional hour: $50
  • Co-sponsored program fee initial 3-Hour Period: $75  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Co-sponsored program fee for each additional hour: $35  (the Library is not currently sponsoring events at this time)
  • Use of office or audio visual (A/V) equipment: $100.00 for initial 3-hour period, $50.00 for each additional hour.
  • Deposit for use of audio visual (A/V) or office equipment: $500.00.

Eastside Library

Montecito Library

Meeting room is offered by The Montecito Association. Call 805-969-2026.

At the discretion of the Library Director, the above fees may be waived for City and County governmental agencies, and for those activities which are endorsed or provided as a part of the Library program.

Artists using any of the gallery spaces are responsible for providing the necessary tools and equipment for installing and removing exhibit items, for providing any notice or publicity on the exhibit and for insurance coverage.

Please note that all library exhibit areas also serve as community meeting spaces and may be scheduled for library events or for meetings, lectures, and presentations by other organizations.
