Obituary Search Requests

Reference staff of the Santa Barbara Public Library System will search for and provide copies, as available, of obituaries for persons who either resided or died in Santa Barbara County. There is a $25.00 fee for this service.  Obituary search requests will only be accepted by regular mail and must include payment by check or money order.

Please submit requests for an obituary search in writing:

    • Your name and mailing address.
    • Check or money order in the amount of $25.00 made out to Santa Barbara Public Library. Do not send cash.

Reference staff will search obituaries in the local newspaper of record on the exact or approximate date of death and for ten days beyond the date given.
