Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is pleased to announce that American Airlines will launch new nonstop, daily air service from Santa Barbara to Dallas, Texas beginning on Thursday, June 2.
Direct service from Santa Barbara creates new connections for local travelers to the US Midwest and East Coast, as well as numerous international destinations. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is North America’s 4th largest airport and the 9th largest airport in the world. The daily service also offers tourists seeking an American Rivera experience in Santa Barbara convenient direct service without the typical airport hassles. California is the most popular U.S. tourism destination for Texans.
To celebrate this important win for the region, Mayor Helene Schneider, City Councilmembers, and Airport Commissioners will welcome arriving Dallas passengers on the inaugural flight at 12:40pm at Gate 1.
Mayor Schneider will speak at 12:30pm at Gate 1 about the importance of the new service for the region’s economic vitality. Media is invited to attend and suggested to arrive no later than 12:20pm in order to gain access through security.

Santa Barbara Airport will now serve seven direct service destinations: Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle with a total of 21 daily departures. According to Airport Director Hazel Johns, “The Dallas connection will open a new gateway for business and tourism with Santa Barbara. The economic boost for the region is significant. We are glad to see more and more destinations being added at our airport for the benefit of the South Coast.”
