Most City administrative offices and facilities will be closed from Monday, December 25, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Police, fire and harbor patrol emergency services will be fully staffed throughout the office closure. The 9-1-1 emergency service will continue to dispatch calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Water, sewer, and trash bill payments can be mailed or left in the night drop box at City Hall or paid online at utilitiesonline.santabarbaraca.gov. Payments will be processed and credited to accounts throughout the closure period. Cash payments will be accepted at the Cashier's Office at City Hall through December 22 or when offices reopen on January 2. Billing office staff will be available by phone December 26 through December 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 564-5343.
Repair requests will be monitored and resolved in order of priority during the office closure. Please call 560-7505 to report damage or repairs needed for the following:
Zoning Information Reports (ZIR's)
The Municipal Code requirement to obtain a ZIR prior to the close of escrow (SBMC Section 28.87.220) will remain in effect during the City’s holiday closure. In order to accommodate the needs of the real estate community as best as possible, all ZIR requests received by the close of business on Friday, December 15 will be completed prior to the holiday closure. Every reasonable effort will be made to complete ZIR's received after December 16 prior to the holiday closure, however, this cannot be guaranteed due to limited resources during the holiday closure period, and we do not yet know the extent of our ZIR workload for that period.
While ZIR applications will not be accepted in person during the holiday closure, agents may continue to mail them in, and work on those applications will commence on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. The fax machine will be unavailable during the holiday closure. If an escrow opens and closes during the holiday closure, agents are still required to submit an application as soon as possible, either in the mail or in person when the Garden Street offices re-open. All "After-the-Fact" ZIR fees will be waived, if valid escrow instructions are provided that verify the escrow opening and closing dates occurred during our holiday closure.

Building & Safety Plan Check and Inspections
Building permit related inspection services will be available all weekdays during the closure except Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1. For building permit inspections please call 564-5492 per the inspection instructions in your permit packet. Building and Safety Division counter staff will not be available to accept or review building plans during the holiday closure.
Public Works and Inspections
Public Works Inspection and emergency permit services will be available all weekdays during the closure with the exception of December 25 and January 1. To schedule a Public Works inspection please call 564-5396. There will be no counter staff available to accept or review plans during the holiday closure. Please call 564-5383 for emergency public work construction permits.
Fire Prevention staff will be available with the exception of December 25 and January 1. Please contact them at 564-5702. Issues requiring immediate assistance from the Fire Department please contact the Combined Communications Center at 897-2410.
