Art. Lighting. Interactive Elements. Music. Sound. Science. Reconfigured Space for Vehicles, Bikes, and Pedestrians. Imagine the Possibilities!
The City is undertaking an innovative project to improve the connection between the waterfront and downtown areas and create a destination area that draws pedestrians up State Street. Enhancements could include lighting, interactive active street and art elements, sound, music, reconfigured lanes for vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians.
An Opening Event was held on November 15 to get input from the public to activate the underpass area.

Let’s start brainstorming. Check out the Pinterest page to see what’s possible with public art and placemaking examples from cities around the world.

Technical design materials will be made available upon request. Based on community input, a Request for Proposals will be released to artists and design professionals.
