About the Camp
- Welcome and Warm- up (9-10am)
Stretches and conditioning drills for summer camp participants.
An example would be complete stretching of ligament-- especially legs-- to prepare for upcoming drills of toe touches. Other exercises might also include sit ups, push ups, yoga, and partner stretching.
- Stunts and Cheers (10-11am)
Participants learn correct placement for toe touches as well as sideline chants and basic cheers and movements which coordinate with these cheers. If time allows, we will also work on some tricks that can be used for any portion of dance or cheerleading.
- Dance Choreography (11am-12noon)
Participants begin to learn contemporary dances, such as routines in hip hop, street jazz, and character jazz. This allows them to grow as performers and maximizes their dance vocabulary and style. Additionally, it is important for teenagers to build their own movement vocabulary. They will have an opportunity in the dances to incorporate their own style.
- Half-time Routines (12noon-1pm)
Participants learn a combination of cheering elements, tricks, jumps, and dance to comprise a half-time routine. Participants work on their showmanship and individual personality to strengthen their performance skills.
- Friday Performance
Special schedule. The participants arrive and are instructed by a makeup professional and have their hair and make up done. Once finished, they will rehearse their routines for a performance later in the day. Camp t-shirts will be distributed for the kids to wear during the performance. The performance is a chance for the kids to give back to the community and will be for elementary children. This organization wants to foster the idea of being involved in the community and making a difference. After the performance, there will be lunch and an awards presentation. Participants may bring their favorite finger food to help make this last day a blast!

Things You Need to Know
The difference between the first and second camp is that the second will be a little more difficult then the first due to the age difference. Don't worry if you have never cheered or danced before. This camp will be sure to get you on your feet and grooving in no time! Additionally, lunch is not provided. It is important for the participants to bring their own snacks and water to help keep them energized!
What to Bring
Parents, everything you need to know for your son or daughter is listed in the welcome letter! Please view this letter to know what your child needs and what fun they will be having during the week.
About the Director
Hello, my name is Brittany Castillo. I am currently a junior attending the University of California Santa Barbara. I will receive my Bachelors of Arts in Dance in 2010. I have been dancing for 17 years in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, modern, and lyrical. I have had such a wonderful time over the years teaching ballet, jazz, hip hop and cheerleading. During junior high I participated in cheer and had a blast. The excitement of dancing and cheering has stuck with me through all these years. I am one of those people who love sharing my talents through performance and teaching. Come join me in learning the newest moves in dance and cheer! This camp will leave you with hot new moves and wonderful memories.
