Looking for a summer of water fun? Aquacamp is filled with exciting adventures including water safety instruction, tide pool and marine life discovery, water games, boogie boarding, fishing, and arts and crafts. Sessions 1 and 3 visit the Long Beach Aquarium. In session 2 kids learn about the Channel Islands and visit the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary. Session 4 focuses on demonstrations by beach lifeguards, harbor patrol and paramedics with a beach bash at Refugio. Session 5 kids go bowling and visit the SB Zoo. All sessions include pier fishing from Stearns Wharf, guest speakers, and visiting a variety of beaches. Extended day is available for this camp for an extra fee for families needing before and/or after camp supervision.
Each session of Aquacamp is different, but all sessions promise to be an exciting, fun-filled two weeks.
Session #1 – 6/23-7/3 “The Deep Sea” Highlights: Long Beach Aquarium, Maritime Museum, Ty Warner SeaCenter
- Session #2 – 7/7-7/18 “The Channel Islands” Highlights: Beach Bash at Refugio, Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary, learn about the animals of the islands.
- Session #3 – 7/21-8/1 “Where the Ocean Meets the Sand” Highlights: Long Beach Aquarium, Guest Speaker: Aquatic Biologist, Tide pooling at Devereux and Carpinteria Beaches.
- Session #4 – 8/4-8/15 “The Rescuers” Highlights:
Demonstration from Beach Lifeguards, Vista Fire Station, Harbor Patrol Tour, and visits from police officers and paramedics, Beach Bash at Refugio.
- Session #5 – 8/18-8/22 “Land Lubbers” Highlights: Bowlling in Ventura, visit the Santa Barbara Zoo.
Transportation
Aquacamp travels by the Parks & Recreation bus most
of the time, but also utilizes the electric shuttle system
when it is feasible.
