Currently, two civilian technicians are assigned to provide the support needed to develop physical evidence. They utilize state of the art technology that includes laser tracing of fingerprints, advanced computers and photographic methods. They support the Crime Scene Investigators (patrol officers) as they gather routine fingerprints and take photos at crime scenes. On major crimes, this unit has a specially equipped van to respond directly to the crime scene to ensure a high level of professional crime scene processing that will include the full range of trace evidence gathering. They work with members of the State Crime Lab to coordinate their needs for DNA and other specialized testing procedures.
