The City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department manages 22 playgrounds throughout the park system. Playgrounds are often the focal-point of a park and provide opportunities for children to engage in healthy play.
Neighborhood Parks generally have smaller playgrounds for younger children, whereas the larger Community Parks tend to have bigger playgrounds for older children. There are also playgrounds at some Sports Facilities. Two notable playgrounds are Kid’s World at Alameda Park, and the Shipwreck Playground at Chase Palm Park. Our newest park, the Bath Street Pocket Park (located at Bath and Ortega Streets) also features a playground.
The interactive Parks and Recreation map shows where all of our playgrounds are located.
