Early Learning at the Library

Children start their learning journey at the Library. Visit all Library branches to find board books, music to check out, and a welcoming space for your baby or toddler to play and learn. 


Wiggly Storytime

We share short stories, songs and interactive rhymes. Be ready to sit on the floor with your child, and spend a bit of library time being silly and wiggly together. Schedule

Family Place at Goleta Library

A play based workshop designed for children ages 1-3, and including siblings ages 0-5. Get to know community experts and learn about child development and resources in our community while your child interacts in a learning environment. Registration required. Next 5 week session starts Saturday, April 8. Must be able to attend whole series, April 8, 15, 22, 29 & May 6. Visit Goleta Library or call 964-7878 to register.  

Music Together at Solvang Library

Last Wednesday of each month. Diane Byington of Solvang Conservatory shares songs, instrument play, rhythm chants and movement in a relaxed, playful setting. Caregiver participation required. Pre-registration guarantees a spot: call 688-4214 or email

Baby and Me Playtime at Central Library

Mondays at noon. Meet and spend time with other caregivers and their babies in this relaxed open playtime. We provide the space, rattles, rhymes, lap bounces, songs, and board books. We hope your playtime is enhanced with some community building as well. Designed for babies aged 0-12 months and their caregivers, this program is best for pre-walkers.

Baby & Me Storytime at Central Library

In this relaxed 30 minute program, our storyteller will lead the group in rhymes, lap bounces, songs, a short story, and promote community building. This program is designed for babies 0-12 months, and is best for pre-walkers.
Two Classes offered every Wednesday: 11:30am to noon & 12:30 to 1:00pm 

Fabulous Fridays at Central Library

Enjoy 30 minutes of playful music and movement with guest musicians, dancers, and sports educators. Get to know other parents of young children. First Session: Tickets given out in the Library lobby at 10:00am, first-come, first-served up to 25 children. Program starts at 10:15am. Second Session: Tickets given out in the lobby or the children's area when the first session is full, first-come, first served up to 25 children. Program starts at 11:00am Session starta at the scheduled time. Doors will close when the program starts whether or not the class is full.
