Payments will be processed and credited to accounts throughout the closure period. Cash payments will be accepted at the Cashier's Office at City Hall through December 23 or when offices reopen on January 2.

The Municipal Code requirement to obtain a ZIR prior to the close of escrow (SBMC Section 28.87.220) will remain in effect during the City’s holiday closure scheduled for December 24, 2013 through January 1, 2014. In order to accommodate the needs of the real estate community as best we can, we are committed to completing all ZIRs received by Friday, December 13, prior to the City’s holiday closure. We will make every effort to complete additional ZIR applications received during the week of December 16, but cannot commit to this at this time, as we will have limited resources during the holiday closure period and we do not yet know the extent of our ZIR workload for that period.
While we cannot accept ZIR applications in person during the holiday closure period, agents may continue to mail them in and we will begin working on those applications when we return on Thursday, January 2. The fax machine will be unavailable during the holiday closure period. If an escrow opens and closes during our holiday closure period, agents are still required to submit an application as soon as possible, either in the mail or in person once our office re-opens. We will waive the double "After the Fact" ZIR fee if valid escrow instructions are provided to verify the escrow opening and closing dates occurred during our holiday closure.
If you have any questions regarding the holiday closure period and how this relates to ZIRs, please call the Planning Counter at 564-5578.
During the closure, both Public Works and the Building & Safety Division will provide inspection services on Friday, December 27. To contact Public Works Staff please call 564-5388. To schedule a Public Works Inspection contact Randy Ward at 564-5396. For building permit inspections please use the normal inspection request instructions as outlined in your building permit packet.
During the holiday closure, Fire Prevention Staff will be on duty the following days: December 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31. Please contact them at 564-5702.
