Dingle, Ireland, was established as a Santa Barbara Sister City on January 28, 2003.
Recognized internationally for its ambient charm as well as the setting of popular Hollywood movies such as “Ryan’s Daughter,” Dingle is located in County Kerry.
The town of Dingle is a seaside destination on Dingle Peninsula, the westernmost part of Europe. With its natural beauty, it draws visitors from around the world. The Dingle Peninsula is an unspoiled environment for walking, hiking, birding, cycling, angling, horseback riding, and golfing on a course carved from the natural landscape. Several of the bays in the region provide a summer playground for paddlers, swimmers, surfers, water-skiers, and scuba divers.
The town of Dingle excels in the arena of fine handcrafts. It is the home of Dingle Crystal; the Santa Barbara Collection; Brian de Staic, Ireland’s premier goldsmith; and Louis Mulcahy, the country’s most renowned potter. Dingle abounds in music at the numerous pubs, which fill both the town and the peninsula with traditional music.
