The Santa Barbara Airport Noise Abatement Committee was established in 1978 under the direction of then Airport Director, Patrick R. Murphy. The committee's first meeting was held in January 1979 and included representatives from the Airport Department, the FAA, the Goleta Chamber, the County of Santa Barbara, UCSB, the airlines, the Air Transport Association, the Santa Barbara Pilots' Association and the fixed base operators.
The goals for the Santa Barbara Airport Noise Abatement Program are as follows
The Noise Abatement Committee is comprised of technical advisors and representatives from Air Traffic Control, Fixed Base Operator General Managers and Airport Commission representatives. Interested community members are encouraged to attend.
The Noise Abatement Committee meets on the last Wednesday of each quarter at 10:00 a.m. in the Airport Administration Conference Room, 601 Firestone Road.
