The City’s recycled water facility has been in a steady state of decline over the past few years; facility upgrades are underway as of April 2014 with completion estimated in summer 2015. Currently the plant produces only a small amount of water which is mixed with potable water to meet the demand of recycled water customers. During construction, recycled water customers will be sent potable water. Once the new recycled water facility is complete, the use of potable water for blending will no longer be necessary to meet water quality regulations, thereby lowering the overall City potable water usage. To free up more potable water during the drought, the City is evaluating the use of non-potable well water to assist with recycled water customer demand.
