Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show
The Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show has been attracting visitors from around the world for more than 43 years. Whatever the size, subject, media and price, all artwork sold is original art created by the approximately 200 Santa Barbara County artists who display their artwork here. The informal atmosphere encourages visitors to the show to talk with the artists about their work and often see them in action. The show is held along Cabrillo Boulevard east from State Street from 10am to dusk on all fair weather Sundays and on occasional Saturdays for special shows. Free concerts are held each summer for the public in Chase Palm Park and Alameda Park from June through August. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic basket, blankets and chairs, and their families and friends along to enjoy a great variety of music and the performances of some highly talented musicians. Schedules are available in May of each year. To receive a schedule, click on the Concerts link at the top of this page or call 897-1982. | Children’s Fiesta Parade (August) The Children’s Fiesta Parade is a special opportunity for children to participate in Santa Barbara’s celebration of Old Spanish Days held the first week of August each year. The parade, which is celebrating its 78th Anniversary in 2008, consists of children dressed in costumes that depict the traditional clothes of the early days of Santa Barbara. Children walk, dance, or ride on parade floats. There is no fee to participate and applications are available in June of each year. | Monthly Art Exhibits at the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center The Cabrillo Pavilion Art Center hosts month long art exhibits featuring the work of Santa Barbara artists. The Art Center is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. An art reception is held each month. These events are open to the public and provide you an opportunity to meet the artists personally. Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Series (February) The Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Series showcases a number of films every February to celebrate Black History Month. Events are held at a local theatre and the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center. A month-long art exhibit at the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center, guest lectures, cultural activities, and special events for children are also part of the fun.
