Dingle, Ireland, was established as a Santa Barbara Sister City in Spring 2003.
Recognized internationally for its ambient charm as well as the setting of popular Hollywood movies such as “Ryan’s Daughter”, Dingle is located in County Kerry.
The town of Dingle is a seaside destination on Dingle Peninsula, the westernmost part of Europe. Attracted to its natural beauty, it draws visitors from around the world. The Dingle Peninsula is an unspoiled environment for walking, hiking, birding, cycling, angling, horseback riding, and a golf course carved from the natural landscape. Several of the bays in the region provide a summer playground for paddlers, swimmers, surfers, water-skiers, and scuba divers.
In the arena of fine handcrafts, the town of Dingle excels. It is the home of Dingle Crystal and the Santa Barbara Collection, Brian de Staic (Ireland’s premier goldsmith), and the country’s renowned potter, Louis Mulcahy. Dingle abounds in music at the numerous pubs, which fill both the town and the peninsula with traditional music.
