Our after school sports programs are FREE to all students attending Adams, Cesar Chavez, Cleveland, Franklin, Harding, McKinley, Monroe, Peabody, Roosevelt, Washington, S.B. Community Academy and Open Alternative elementary schools. Register your children for flag football, basketball, soccer and softball leagues where they will be both safe and active after school. FREE AFTERSCHOOL YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS Fall Flag Football League: Coed (ages 8-12)-- Practices are conducted after school from September-December at elementary schools and some teams will play Saturday games at local parks and fields Little Hoopster Basketball League (ages 5-9)--Introduction to developing fundamental skills in a highly energetic and fun environment. One or two practices weekly after school and one game scheduled each week @ Franklin Elementary School or the West Side Boys & Girls Club. 8-foot rims, small basketballs and modified rules for maximum fun. Program runs from January-March. Boys & Girls Basketball League (ages 9-12)-- Introduction to developing fundamental skills. One or two practices weekly after school and one game scheduled each week on during the week or possible Saturday games at SBCC gym and local schools. Program runs from January-March. Girls Softball League (ages 9-12)—Learn how to pitch, throw, catch, hit and run bases. Games played on Tuesday or Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30pm on Santa Barbara High School softball fields. Program runs April-June. Coed Soccer League (ages 9-14)—Teams developed from schools attended. Fundamentals of soccer in a fun, after school environment. Practices and one game scheduled each week from April-May on local elementary school fields.
FREE Junior High Afterschool Sports & Recreation Programs: Jointly sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara High School District, this free program provides after school sports and clubs in a recreational setting. Includes flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, cross country and track and field for skill development and fun at Santa Barbara, La Colina, La Cumbre and Goleta Valley Jr. High Schools. Kidz Love Soccer (ages 2 ½ -12)—Kids of all ages learn the world’s most popular sport from professional coaches trained in the “Kidz Love Soccer” method: a session experience that includes age-appropriate activities, skills demonstrations, fun games and instructional scrimmages in a non-competitive, recreational format. Program organized by age groups. All classes held on Saturdays at Dwight Murphy Softball Field. September-November and January-March. Click on link above for specific class information.
