Youth Programs strives to make a difference in the lives of our community’s children. We employ highly-trained, professional paid staff and volunteers who embrace quality and establish high standards for the effective delivery of recreational and educational services for boys and girls ages 4-18. Exceptional partnerships have also been created to maximize community resources and enhance opportunities. We encourage new ideas and welcome your participation.

ELEMENTARY AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
RAP girl webRAP (Recreation Afterschool Program):
RAP is a safe, supervised and fun recreational experience for children in first through sixth grades at Adams, Monroe, Roosevelt and Washington Elementary Schools. Registration is currently underway and is on-going throughout the school year. 

Our highly trained team brings energy, enthusiasm, skill and commitment to making sure that your child comes home each and every day with a big smile across their face.  RAP employees have completed a criminal background check, are currently certified in CPR/First aid and are trained in supervising children and program planning.

Daily activities include arts and crafts, sports and recreation, homework help and reading time.  Program schedules change from day to day and vary, depending upon the site.  Generally speaking, RAP operates on the following schedule…

2:30 to 3:00
- Students sign in/ snack time (CAC Free snack program is offered at Adams and Monroe; Roosevelt and Washington students are encouraged to bring their own snack from home)/ free play

3:00 to 3:15
- Kids meeting/announcements and review of day’s schedule/transition into age appropriate groups

3:15 to 4:15
- Supervised activity hour (students are usually broken into groups of 1st-3rd and 4th-6th grades. 30 minutes at each activity, then groups switch)

4:15 to 5:00
- Homework help/reading time

5:00 to 5:15/5:30- Parent pick-up/sign-out…board games/indoor group activity

Staff AOK webA-OK! Program (Afterschool Opportunities for Kids):
Participation is based on recommendation of school’s administration. Participating schools are Adams, Franklin, Harding, Cleveland and McKinley. Program is offered at elementary school sites from 2-6pm. This after-school educational and enrichment program provides opportunities for academic growth, encouragement and development in a multitude of areas. Fun on the Run:
Monday through Thursday, a colorful van filled with arts, crafts, games, and sports equipment will bring the fun straight to you! Parks and Recreation Department staff supervise youth in participating in fun activities, including sports such as flag football, handball, crafts and games. JR. HIGH AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
FREE Junior High Afterschool Sports & Enrichment Programs: The City of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara High School District collaborate with local groups such as PAL, Club West and Bici Centro to offer after school sports and special interest clubs and classes to junior high students at Santa Barbara, La Colina, La Cumbre and Goleta Valley Jr. High Schools. Click on the links above for information on specific junior high progams offered by these partners.
