We Need Your Help
With our upcoming City of Santa Barbara General Municipal Election, we would like to enlist your help as a poll worker. Your willingness to participate as a poll worker is greatly appreciated and we hope that we can count on you for Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
Requirements
You Must Be:
· 18 years old.
· A U.S. Citizen.
· A registered voter in the State of California.
· Able to speak and read the English language.
· Available to serve from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Election Day and have adequate means of transportation.
The duties of each poll worker include, but are not limited to:
· Prepare, open and close polling place.
· Find voter’s name on roster.
· Issue and receive official ballots.
· Assist voters in any phase of the voting process.
Time Commitment
The hours the polls will be open are from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and you will need to report to the polling place at 6:30 a.m. the day of the Election. After the polls close, you will need to remain at the polling location until all Election-related duties have been completed.
Compensation
The compensation for an Inspector is $160.00 and for a Clerk is $120.00. An Inspector will also receive $10.00 for picking up election supplies from City Hall. There will be two training sessions held at the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center, located at 1118 E. Cabrillo Boulevard. Poll workers may attend either the morning session from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or the evening session from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007. Inspectors will receive $20.00 and Clerks will receive $10.00 for attending the training session, whether you participate as a poll worker or not, provided you remain available while the polls are open on Election Day. Bilingual board members will also receive $10.00. You will receive one check for both Election Day and attendance at the training session. Checks will be mailed out on or about December 6th.
