Parks & Recreation Community Foundation

Purpose

PARC promotes the acquisition, development, maintenance and enhancement of open space, parks and recreation and community facilities in and around the greater Santa Barbara area as essential to the development of a healthful urban environment. PARC encourages innovation in the development of programs and facilities that may not ordinarily be supported by government resources and fosters the more effective delivery of leisure services and opportunities. In addition, PARC acts as a fundraising apparatus and offers its 501 (c) (3) status to smaller nonprofit organizations with no administrative fee to help these organizations raise funds for their projects.

Contributions to the PARC Foundation have helped fund many worthwhile projects such as accessible and safe playgrounds, adapted recreation programs, summer camp youth scholarships, new recreation facilities and equipment, teen recreation and social activities, youth dance groups, lawn bowling facility improvements, parkland acquisition, historical park renovations, the reforestation of city parks and many others.
